Wyllisa R. Bennett has honed her skills as an award-winning writer, communicator and public relations practitioner. She has gained extensive knowledge and experience in advertising, promotions, community relations, public relations and marketing.
A native of North Carolina, former stints include positions with Community Pride magazine and The Charlotte Observer as assistant to the publisher/staff writer and special sections writer, respectively. She also served as director of public relations & marketing at the Museum of the New South.
In May 2001, Bennett relocated to Los Angeles and began working as a publicity consultant, assisting clients with their public relations and marketing needs. She is media savvy, and very effective in establishing and maintaining media relations to gain exposure and visibility. Her clients have received regional, national and international press, including placement in People, Glamour, Good Housekeeping, TV Guide, Soap Opera Digest, Black Enterprise, Essence, Ebony and Jet magazines – just to name a few. She has also landed appearances for clients on the “Dr. Phil Show” and the “Wayne Brady Show” as well as “Entertainment Tonight,” and “Access Hollywood.”
Bennett has worked with and/or represented clients at movie premieres, special events as well as high-profile, red-carpet events, including the Daytime Emmys, the People’s Choice Awards, the NAACP Image Awards and the BET Awards. She has also worked extensively with other agencies and the in-house publicity departments of CBS, FOX, BET, and PAX Television to complement the public relations efforts of actors and television personalities.
Bennett has a proven track record of working successfully with clients and assessing their needs to creatively implement a successful public relations campaign. She has gained positive exposure for her clients while building on her reputation as a consummate professional.
